This is a new federal program which provides $300 million nationwide to establish consumer rebate programs for energy efficient appliance purchases.

The rebate program is expected to be offered to the public in the Spring of 2010. Appliance retailers will issue the rebate forms and register completed forms at the State Energy Office, where a running total will be maintained.

Timeline: Funds must be exhausted by February 17, 2012.
Restrictions:
The state must provide three assurances to U.S. Department of Energy:
State will work with utilities to provide customer incentives for energy efficiency.
State will adopt building codes with standards defined by ARRA.
State will prioritize the ARRA grants to fund energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.
Recipient’s matching funds requirement: None.
Recipient’s administrative allowance: State must pay 50% of its administrative costs.
